I interupt this super serious blog site...

To bring you awesome news. Dani graduates today! So now, not only does she have a masters in bullshitting, sarcasm, and all around hotness- but also in something actually productive / income earning. Congrats hon! Enjoy your day, sit on your throne of amazingness, pat yourself on the back. You are 35% of whats awesome in my life, and I love you bunches. XO Liz

Our Emmy Rant and Hungry Eyes

Direct Download: emmyrant.mp3

Runtime: 2 minutes, 50 seconds

We channeled our bitterness over the 2009 Emmy Robbery of Crystal Chappell (and really, Guiding Light as a whole) into a quickie rant. Had to get that off our chests. Although we salute the GL men for pulling in 3 Emmy nominations, we felt the women were utterly shafted. How about you guys?

It's also PaaV video snippets time again! Liz and I have been talking about the hot looks of Olivia Spencer for the last couple of weeks, which spawned this video. Really, it's a small slice of CC/Olivia's repertoire, as this sort of thing could have easily been 35 minutes.

Dirty Dancing + Olivia Spencer = win. That's all I have to say about that.

PaaV Podcast #4

Direct Download: paav4-.mp3

Runtime: 1 hour, 21 minutes

Podcast #4 lives. We had 3 days of Otalia this week, which seems like a lot, but we are still bitter about the cruel CBS preview fake out. As usual, we got lots of rad emails and comments, which further proves that you guys are funnier than we are.

Notes:

- We totally lied about the new website, it isn't live yet. But it is set up to automatically forward you to the blogspot site, so feel free to update your bookmarks now. Check back through the week to see the spiffy, shiny new site: pancakesandavalium.com

- Herbal Essences is citrus-y. Just saying. Rub it in!

- I actually do want to know what the F Blake was rambling about during the massage regarding her love life, so feel free to enlighten me (Dani) in the comments or in an email. Most of the old GL I've watched has been Olivia Spencer-centric.

- We're on itunes! Yay. Thanks to everyone who asked about it - now you can subscribe there if you prefer that. We're all fancy and whatnot.

- Stuff we talked about. From Holly Norris to Olivia Spencer - Ladies and Gentlemen, The B-52s - Deep Soap: Happy Mothers Day

- We tried out some new recording software this week, so let us know what you think about it. You know, if you want to.

- Dani is still going strong being spoiler-free and would like to thank the people cheering her on. Recovery is hard, but we can all do it one step at a time.
....And Dani fell off the wagon. Who had one week in the pool?

Outtakes and Frank vs. Doris

Direct Download: love.mp3

Runtime: 1 minute, 16 seconds

Lovely Liz has put together another clip of cut material from our last podcast. At least all our screwing up is being utilized for something productive.

mini-pod mini notes:

- recording a podcast in the middle of the night is not the best idea in the world
- I only swear at Liz when greatly provoked

We also have another video - the Director's Cut of Frank vs. Doris! Well it would be if I were the director.

PaaV Podcast #3

Direct Download: paav3.mp3

Runtime: 58 minutes

Peanut buttery Podcast #3 is here! Somehow we managed to spend 58 minutes discussing 9 minutes of screentime. We're special like that. We'd both like to thank everyone, again, for their awesome comments and emails. This isn't nearly as fun without you guys, so keep 'em coming.

Notes for the week:

- Dani started the night with technical problems, so Liz did some changes on her end hoping to help. In the end, we ended up with a bad echo in the recording on Liz's side, but neither of us heard it during the call. I did what I could to make it ok, but there is some background echo in some places I couldn't get rid of. At times it sounds like I'm in a crowded bar, but alas, I'm not. Its basically fine with speakers but not so much with headphones. So sorry!!

- Liz did not get enough words for the week last week. We know it's a brain-bender, but try to sum up the Otalia week in one word and leave it in the comments. It's fun!

- P & G doesnt make peanut butter but they do make Pringles! Yummy w/ PB & banana sandwiches!

- Lynn Liccardo's Red Room article on GL - "What Would Irna Think?"

- Jennifer Gibbons' Red Room article on GL - "A Woman Named Irna"

- Liz is taking bets on how long Dani will last spoiler free in the comments!

- Dani would like to let people know that Liz is a horrible spoiler rehab sponsor, she's been tempting relentlessly!

Everything Awesome from PaaV 2.0

Direct Download: projectsalvage.mp3

Runtime: 2 minutes, 48 seconds

Did someone ask for outtakes? No? Well, here they are anyway. This is a "mini-pod" just for fun - taken from the first version of PaaV 2.0, which we ended up scrapping. Liz is a genius, and worked her editing magic to salvage some funny from it.

mini-pod mini notes:

- the girls were not on Tuesday of last week
- we never discussed Tuesday, but if you say anything with enough authority, Dani will believe you (ed: hey!)

And finally, a couple of new PaaV Podcast video snippets. It wouldn't be a Friday if we weren't bagging on the Coopers!

PaaV Podcast #2

Direct Download: Paav2.2.mp3

Podcast #2 is alive! Thanks for all the nice comments and encouragement, we really appreciate it and dork out about every single email. It was a great Otalia week, and we hope you’ll enjoy the podcast half as much as we enjoyed recording it.

Runtime: 1:58

Notes for the week:

- Here's the link to the Frank/Olivia/Buzz love triangle Liz mentioned. Seriously worth checking out for some insight into the history of Olivia’s love life.

- We’ll be doing our “one word to describe the week” from here on out. Share your word for the week with us in the comments. Liz wants to know!

- Dani has been unable to locate an actual age for the character of AC Mallet, but Robert Bogue is 44 years old and Mandy Bruno is 27 years old. Also, Mallet is Marina’s Godfather. Just putting that out there.

- We have our own new shiny email addresses. Admin@pancakesandavalium.com will go to us both, or you can e-mail Liz@pancakesandavalium.com or Dani@pancakesandavalium.com. We’re whores for email, so feel free.

- Link to The Red Room Guiding Light Project mentioned by Liz.

- Check out our YouTube Channel for amusing podcast outtakes and snippets set to video.

- We mention a few times that this is our second go at the podcast. We recorded one that we didn't love, so it was like 1am and of course we were like, "Let’s just scrap it and start over!!" so we're loopy and tired and its fun. It’s harder to be faux smart when you're dragging.

- Liz may or may not have accidentally let it slip to her mom that she was doing this. Mom will be very proud to hear me gush about Crystal's black coat and dissolve into incoherent mumbling when Natalia leans against the door frame.

- Dani prefers Crystal in the brown coat, and has applied for a fellowship to continue her “research” into the general hotness of Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia.

- Liz and Dani have broken up forever over their disagreement about Olivia's coats.

PaaV Video Snips

So we ramble. So what? Some of it is amusing (some isn't), but we thought we'd use slices of it to promo the podcast and have a little fun on YouTube.

"I love you, but.."

"The Coopers are Greek"

More to come! We'll be recording a juicy new podcast tonight, so stay tuned for that. Thanks to everyone who's listened so far!

PaaV Podcast #1

Direct Download: PaVP1.mp3

Pancakes and a Valium Podcast #1 is LIVE. Yay!

Runtime: 2:45

Notes from Liz and Dani:

First, I couldnt find that YouTube comment / commenter. So if its you, very insightful thank you.

Campaigning. We wanted to talk about that but we basically ran out of time / forgot to do so. We will probably (maybe) next week, but until then check out the links over there. >> Call, email, snail mail, postcards. Get involved. Flex those geek muscles.

Liz just changed to Tide, and now her clothes smell super yummy. Should have made that change a long time ago. Dani is a fan of Electrosol, mostly because Jessica Leccia's siren voice told me to buy it. The packaging is not a win, but I recycle. Support P & G where you can.

About the CC article we mention, its def not the Advocate, Liz is just crazy. But I can't for the life of me figure out which article/s it is. So whatevs.

Dani's audio will be better next time, and Liz promises not to drink milk right before taping so there will be less coughing/ throat clearing/ mouth smacking noises.

I don't know why Grey's Anatomy managed to come up three separate times. I haven't even watched that show for months. Weirdness. Can't promise there won't be a Parking Lot of Doom reference in the future.

I have googled, and I still have no idea what makes a 'Greek" wedding cake special. Someone help us out here.

Thanks for listening! You know, if you did.

**We exceeded our bandwidth before. We now have a new player, and you can download the podcast in MP3 format directly from the link above.

Hey!! Guess where we are now! Featured on the sites Otaliafans and Otalia!. How stoked are we?!?
